The best Mother’s day gift my husband could give me is picking up my camera to take photos of me with my babies like this… in our moment… doing what we are already doing… our life captured, so we can remember it just so! A few shots into this I knew he had my camera and was taking our photo (and I was in my swim suit – eek) but when I saw these photos on my computer I melted with joy to have this moment saved forever! So, give your hubby your camera today, set to auto, or maybe give him a little lesson on what angle he should shoot in if you are in your bathing suit ;) Believe me, I know it’s hard to be in front of the camera. But I do it for my children, I think when they look back on photos of us together it will help tell the story of how much they are loved (now, then, and forever).

Bennett’s first year… documented in photos

I’m working on a photo book of Bennett’s first year. Going through all the images made me feel so thankful to have documented his life and this has continued to inspire me to pick up my camera at every chance I get. So, I wanted to include these from our third baby’s past year to help inspire you to document your children’s lives. These images have really helped me remember the fleeting past year. Remember, it doesn’t need to be technically perfect, these aren’t, but the memory and feeling of this moment frozen in time makes the technical part so very insignificant.

Now that Bennett is one we have the travel itch again. I think it’s a copping mechanism that we go through when we feel our babies growing up if that makes any sense. So before taking any big trips we plan to take a few weekend trips close by. The kids of course are always crazy about the adventure!

He’s officially One! We were blessed to have family in town to celebrate with a few close friends. It was just what he (aka, mamma) wanted for the celebration, an intimate gathering, complete with pancakes with icing on top instead of cupcakes, a water balloon toss that he enjoyed watching from his highchair as he filled his tummy with fruit, all in the comfort of home sweet home. During the Birthday song he became shy and leaned on Addi and she assisted in the honors and said she knew just what he’d wish for.

He really loves pancakes, so pancakes with icing and sprinkles will be his special treat at his party. This was our practice. No candle lit, but he did get to enjoy his treat.

If there’s any project I can keep up with this would be it… at the end of each month review the months pictures, organize, email photos to share, and share a few random ones here. And the Birthday Boy will have a few posts of his own of course… but we are still making those memories celebrating the big 1!
